  • April through October: Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. & Wednesday: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • November: Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • December through March: First Saturday of each month 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

You will be required to show your "Yard Waste Site" pass for proof of residence and sign in with the attendant upon entry.

A fee of $25.00 will be charged to enter the Yard Waste Site during closed hours. The fee must be paid at the Village Hall prior to an employee opening the Yard Waste Site.

Yard Waste Site is located at 185 W. Viola Street, behind Maple Grove Cemetery off S. Piety Street

 Items Allowed at the Yard Waste Site

  • No Charge: Brush, yard waste (leaves, grass, garden waste, composting material).
  • No brick, pavers, or other landscape materials. 
  • We no longer accept any construction material.

 All materials must be removed from containers, unless they are in a biodegradable compost bags. 

 Items Not Allowed (Partial Listing)

  • Carpet Tiles (all floor coverings)
  • Appliances (large and small)
  • Furniture
  • Cardboard Plastic
  • Flower pots
  • Tires Paint Roofing (tar/pails)
  • Driveway sealer pails
  • Lawn furniture/Ornaments
  • Wire Paper Cloth Items
  • Basic household items

Items not allowed must go in your garbage, or for larger items, contact your garbage hauler. Failure to comply with the above rules may result in a fine imposed by the local Police Department. If you have any questions contact the Village Hall at 273-4742 or email at The Clerk of the Village of Ellsworth. Only Village of Ellsworth residents are allowed to use the Yard Waste/Compost Site. A pass (free of charge) is available at the Village Hall and is necessary to enter the Yard Waste/Compost Site.
