Did You Know?

The Village of Ellsworth does not gain revenue from garbage and recycling services. The Village simply collects the service fees from residents and pays those fees directly to GFL Environmental on a quarterly basis.

Because we contract these services as a municipality, residents benefit from lower pricing than if billed individually.

Here’s a comparison:

• Outside the Village (individual GFL customer):
• Garbage (65-gallon cart): $26.90 per month 
• Recycling: $9.56 per month
• Total: about $109.38 per quarter
• Inside the Village of Ellsworth:
• Garbage (65-gallon cart): $35.63 per quarter
• Recycling: $26.24 per quarter

By requiring all single-family, two-family, and three-family homes to have garbage and recycling through the Village’s contracted program we are able to offer reduced rates.
