Services We Offer:
Water and Sewer Systems
We manage the municipality's water supply and sewer systems, safeguarding public health and the environment. Our skilled team works diligently to provide clean water and efficient wastewater treatment.
Our Public Works Water and Sewer Department is the constant "watchdog" of our Wastewater Plant along with multiple other duties that include but are not limited to:
- Water and Sewer line maintenance
- System operations and maintenance
- Storm water management
- Meter Maintenance within residents homes and businesses
- Testing and regulating systems

How and where should I report a sewer backup?
If a village resident has a sewer backup problem, he/she should call the Public Works Department at 715-273-4742 first. After 3:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or holidays, the Police Department should be notified at the non-emergency number, 715-273-3275, or call 911. Residents should state that they are reporting a sewer emergency. Backed-up sewer lines, line breaks, sewage odors, and overflowing manholes are considered an emergency.
Streets Department
The Village of Ellsworth Public Works Street Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the municipality's roadways and public spaces. Committed to excellence, the department undertakes a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that facilitates the daily lives of residents and businesses within our community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain streets (over 44 miles), alleys, and residential sidewalks
- Maintain street and traffic signs
- Street sweeping
- Snow plowing, sanding, and snow removal
- Repair potholes, crack sealing, and line marking
- Mow Village owned land and problem areas
